Hello again friends! ID90 Travel here with another profile feature on one of our favorite team members, Esteban, Controller for ID90 Sudamerica and Director of Customer Support. In case you’ve stumbled upon this blog for the first time, allow us to introduce ourselves. We’re ID90 Travel, the company that gives airline employees un-real exclusive deals on hotels, rental cars, cruises, and all-inclusive resorts.

We put a lot of care into what we do, and we’re always looking for new ways to streamline your travel booking experience. But in order to learn more about what we do, we think it’s important to first understand who we are.

We’ve done a few of these profiles already (featuring team members like Emily, CarterDebbie, and David B.), but this time we’re excited to introduce you to a member from our Argentina office! His name is Esteban, and we think you’ll enjoy getting to know this passionate athlete, jet-setter, and father. Heck, you might even learn a cool tip or two!

Name/Nickname:

Esteban & “The Office Enforcer

Position:

Controller for ID90 Sudamerica and Director of Customer Support

Where did you grow up, or what city influenced you the most?

Cordoba, it’s my special place in this world. It’s where I was born and raised, and where all of my family and friends are. There are over 2 million people in the city, but it still feels like a small town and I feel like I know everyone.

You’re given an unlimited budget & unlimited time, where do you travel?

All around the world. If I needed to choose one place it would be Cape Town, South Africa, because they love rugby and I love rugby. Also I’ve been before, and Cape Town pleasantly surprised me! I wasn’t expecting such a beautiful city, especially one that combined the sea, mountains, modern buildings, and people from around the world. I felt like I could have done so much there, but unfortunately didn’t have the time so I really want to go back. Plus it has some really raw nature surrounding it which I love as well.

What motivates you to do what you do?

Wanting to be the best at whatever I do.

What’s the last song you listened to, book you read, and show you watched on Netflix?

Last Song: Creep by Radiohead

Last Book: Crear o Morir (Create or Die) by Andres Oppenheimer

Last Show: I don’t do Netflix but last series I watched was Game of Thrones.

If you could trade lives with someone, who would it be?

Any professional rugby player, I would love to play rugby (or any other sport) for a living.

What is on thing you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t had the time?

I’d like to go sky diving at some point. I’ve already gone bungee jumping. It was awesome. I did it when I traveled to New Zealand with my school. It was funny because I needed my mother’s approval to do it since I was under 18, so I lied to my teacher and faked a phone call to my mum from a public phone. It was the most amazing feeling I ever experienced! I felt like I was choking at first, but once I relaxed and caught my breath I really had a great time. So much so that I went back up and jumped again!!!!

What’s your go-to traveling hack/tip?

You should always search for flights on incognito browser so that the airlines and sites can’t track you and increase the prices.

What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on?

The best trip I’ve ever been on was to Mauritius. I traveled there with my wife. We spent some time in South Africa, and then decided to got to Mauritius to relax and explore. It was fascinating. It’s a volcano island mainly populated with people that came from India, so you could see the unique influence of their culture and lifestyle surrounded by the most beautiful beaches and reefs. I love snorkeling and diving so we had the best time ever. We got to swim with dolphins in the open sea, and did a helicopter tour to see what they call the “underwater waterfall.” Everybody should see that! It was amazing.

What is your most bizarre talent?

Not sure I have any but I can hand whistle. Does that count?

Tell us three things about yourself & make one a lie.

I can eat anything and everything for breakfast, I wake up starving. I don’t do social networks; I keep those I care about close enough so that I don’t need to find out about their lives on FB/Twitter/Instagram etc. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with people like Emily.

What’s your favorite kind of vacation?

I like combined vacations like ones with a little bit of culture, a little bit of shopping, and a little bit of relaxing on the beach. I always try to find a trip that can combine all three.

What’s your “travel style?”

I would consider myself a low budget jet-setter. I’ve been (and continue to be) fortunate enough to travel almost anywhere I’ve wanted to go. It takes planning and a very strict budget to do it right, and I also think attitude plays a large part. If you are constantly worried, feeling insecure, or angry you will never be a jet-setter.  Confidence, a sense of adventure, and a sincere enjoyment of life are the keys to becoming one.

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Energetic sports dad.

“The best gym spotter I’ve ever had.”
