“Make where you lay your head a destination in itself.”

– Someone famous, probably.

Unless you actually have a life and don’t get stuck endlessly scrolling on Instagram like the rest of us you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably come across Ellen’s ‘gram at the wildly popular Giraffe Manor in Nairobi, Kenya. You know, the one where she literally ate breaky with those glorious long-necked creatures?

Insert here a resounding; “Well, isn’t that nice. Wouldn’t we all like to have that budget.” (Notice, these aren’t questions.)

Saltiness aside, staying at a cool hotel is really cool, and it’s something we’d all like to do. But guess what? We can, and at a fraction of the cost of what Ellen probably paid! (Take that, you perfect media mogul, you.)

On that note, we decided that it was more than time we started perusing our options. See below a list of 15 freaking cool hotels you can find on your handy dandy ID90 Travel mobile app today. Discounts are already applied. You’re welcome.

#1.) The V8 Hotel – Stuttgart, Germany

Vroom, vroom. Live your big boy dream and sleep in the car of your choice! Stuttgart, Germany is the birthplace of the automobile, and the perfect place to geek out on all things fast and covered in chrome. The Mercedes-Benz and Porsche museums are just down the way!

#2.) The Hanging Gardens of Bali – Payangan, Indonesia

This luxurious heaven-world of your dreams really does exist! Lounge in the lushest infinity pool you’ve ever seen, surrounded by a forest so green you’ll wonder if this isn’t the current day Garden of Eden. #3.) Inntel Hotels Amsterdam Zaandam – Zaandam, Netherlands

This too cute, brightly colored, kids dream hotel is the perfect place to stay in #IAmsterdam. Besides being a modern yet traditional experience in the popular Netherlands city, the Inntel Hotel is perfectly located a stone’s throw away from the train station of Zaandam.

#4.) The Crazy Bear Beaconsfield – Beaconsfield, England (UK)

Opened in 2008, the Crazy Bear Beaconsfield is the oldest documented building in the area. It also immediately, upon its opening, skyrocketed to the top of the most prestigious travel lists. That’s right, Conde Nast’s Hot List for “Best New Hotels in the World” is just one that it graced. Per its website, it’s an “oasis in quintessential England and the antithesis to bland hotels.” They’re not kidding. Y’all are seeing that gold tub too, right? Ok, good. Then you get it.

Also they have pool parties with mermaids. So there’s that.

#5.) Hotel Marqués de Riscal – Elciego, Spain

This swirly whirly wonder (created by Frank Gehry) is a “highly sought after contemporary, luxury retreat.” Located in the City of Wine, it’s the ultimate escape for those looking for a romantic getaway… that or a “place to make a gastronomic discovery.” Whatever that is… 🤷‍♀️ Regardless, their restaurants look really yummy, and wow… the wedding options are unreal! Check it out.

Oh, and the pool is super lush too. We think it’ll be more than worth the trip, and hey on your way stop and say hello to the team at our Córdoba office!

#7.) Taj Lake Palace – Udaipur, Rajasthan

Ok, to be honest with y’all, when we came upon this hotel, we knew we had to write this blog. Like, just look at this place! It’s a palace on a freaking lake. According to its website, it’s a historical and architectural “floating vision in marble.”

Of course, there’s a magical spa, Heritage Walk, and superb dining experience… and OH, did we mention? You’ll arrive by boat. Yep. Um, yep. Yep. #Obsessed.

#8.) The Liberty – Boston, Massachusettes

“Historic charm in the heart of Beacon Hill.” This Luxury Collection Hotel actually used to be the Charles Street Jail (a national historic landmark built in 1851), but is now, “the ideal place for a ‘Quintessentially Boston’ experience.” Renovated for ultimate comfort with a sweeping view of the skyline and Charles River, you’ll live the high life in the building that used to house low lives. (#🤷‍♀️)

Regardless, you won’t have to worry about being haunted here… unless, that is, you’re haunted by its exquisite Bostonian beauty.

#9.) Tree Hotel – Harads, Sweden

Blink and you might miss it! This mirrored-cube wonder (or its UFO, bird’s nest, or dragonfly counterpart) was built with the intention to immerse its visitors in the wild. A hide-out among the Swedish forest trees, the Tree Hotel’s mirrored walls offer a stunning panoramic view and, actually, free wifi.

Offering all the amenities of a first class hotel, you’ll also get the ultimate escape experience. Plus did we mention your walk to your room may include the Northen Lights?

#10.) Hurawalhi Island Resort – Hurawalhi Island, Maldives

Imagine escaping to a private island, along the pristine Lhaviyani Atoll in the Maldives, to a private waterside cabana where you’ll dine at the world’s largest all-glass undersea restaurant. Yes, that picture is real, and yes, this hotel really exists. (Don’t believe us? Check out the 360 tour!)

An absolute paradise among the waves, the Hurawalhi Island Resort literally has us drooling at our screens. Escape with your honey, your friend, or heck… ALONE. This place is too magical to pass up!

#11.) Quinta Real Zacatecas – Zacatecas, Mexico

Check out this lovely almost Colosseum-like courtyard at the Quinta Real Zacatecas! Decorated in a colonial-Mexican style this beautiful courtyard, and its elegant suites, are the perfect location for a big celebration. The suites are luxurious, the location ideal, and they even offer Diptyque amenities in the room!

Excuse me? One ticket to Mexico please?

#12.) Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort – Huzhou, China

Hello, mystical Asian palace on the water! Hi, are you available, and when’s too soon to book a room? Seriously, look at this place! And if your question is, “Are there actual rooms in the arch?” the answer is yes, and also we are D-E-D too. The place for peeps to stay in Palm Springs, there’s great food (in-house and nearby), the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens to explore, the Palm Spring Air Museum, great shopping, and the Wet ‘n’ Wild Palm Spring park nearby. A destination in itself, trust us and check out its excellently designed website.

#14.) Jumbo Stay – Arlanda, Sweden

Sure, sleeping on a jet isn’t like a unique experience for most of you airline employees. But have you ever stayed in one while it was on the ground? Eh? Eh? Ok, well, this one is cooler (we promise) than it sounds.

This Swedish jumbo jet stay offers a wide variety of suites and rooms, and you even get a panoramic view of the airport in some of them! (Like, if you find landing jet sounds soothing, we guess.) Take a sleep at the controls, and we promise nobody’s gonna get mad. Just don’t sleep on this cool experience!

#15.) SkyArk | SkyNest – Kiruna, Sweden

Why are all the cool hotels in Sweden? The Swedish are just into neato stays, we guess! “Nature and innovation become one,” in this unique Swedish camp. A family business, the SkyArk group offers guests an, “exclusive range of accommodation(s) and tours in the nature (of) northernmost Sweden.”

Their values are “hostmanship, quality, and sustainability.” These little campers (with glass ceilings for your Northern Lights viewing pleasure) are really sweet. And hey, we all need to escape at some point for a little peace of mind, right?
